Why professional cleanings matter
Even with great brushing and flossing, plaque hardens into tartar that only a professional can remove. Regular cleanings prevent cavities and gum disease, freshen your breath, and give us a chance to catch small problems early — when they’re easiest and least expensive to treat.
What happens during a cleaning
- Exam. We check your teeth and gums and take X-rays when needed.
- Scaling. We gently remove plaque and tartar from your teeth and along the gumline.
- Polishing. We polish away surface stains for a smooth, clean finish.
- Prevention. We finish with tips (and fluoride if helpful) to keep your smile healthy at home.
How often should you get a cleaning?
For most people, every six months is ideal. If you have gum disease or a higher risk of buildup, we may recommend more frequent visits to keep things under control. We’ll set a schedule that’s right for you.
Gentle cleanings for the whole family
Our hygienists take a gentle, unhurried approach — great for kids, anxious patients, and anyone who’s overdue for a visit. There’s no judgment here, just friendly care to get your smile back on track.

A regular cleaning maintains healthy gums. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) treats gum disease by cleaning below the gumline. We'll recommend the right one after your exam.
